Tasting Note: Suave but ripe and deep, this balanced Vinhas Velhas is a Big Boy that nonetheless easily holds itself together and winds up seeming rather elegant. The first thing you'll notice here is not the big fruit, but the power. There is a real tannic backbone, meaning this is not ready. The tannins are not too hard, to be sure, but you'll want to give this a year or two (maybe more) in the cellar for better results. The mid-palate will easily balance the power in the long run. This tastes great and shows great promise for the future.
