Tasting Note: this is a powerful yet impeccably balanced Grand Cru that perfectly showcases the paradoxical nature of 2016: concentration paired with vibrancy. It possesses the opulent, seductive charm expected of Charmes-Chambertin, bolstered by the serious structure and depth of a challenging vintage. It is beginning to drink beautifully but has the stuffing and balance for long-term evolution.

The Winery

The Camus family has been a fixture in Gevrey-Chambertin for more than two centuries. In about 1850 the cultivation of vines had already been started by the family. Thanks to acquisitions made by successive generations, the vineyard area today comprises about 18 ha, with almost two-thirds of it composed by the grands crus of Chambertin, Latricières-Chambertin, Charmes-Chambertin, Mazy-Chambertin and Mazoyères-Chambertin, as well as various village holdings in Gevrey-Chambertin. Impressively the domaine has been bottling all of their production for the last 60 years and today the domaine is directed by Hubert Camus.
