Description

Clos St. Julien, formerly Jardin Saint Julien, is a tiny 1.2-hectare Saint-Émilion vineyard owned by Catherine Papon-Nouvel. Planted with Cabernet Franc and Merlot on limestone terroir, its low yield produces a highly sought-after wine aged in 100% new French oak. Organic farming methods and old vines contribute to its unique minerality and limited production of 400 cases annually.

Tasting Note: Deep purple-black in color, the 2020 Clos St Julien wafts gracefully out of the glass with notes of kirsch, black raspberries and boysenberries, plus suggestions of violets, anise and oolong tea, with a hint of crushed rocks. The medium to full-bodied palate is bursting with vibrant red and black fruits and tons of energy, framed by finely grained tannins and exhilarating tension, finishing long and minerally. It's the kind of great wine that makes your tongue tingle for more.
