Tasting Note: The Château Ampélia 2010 is a powerful and brooding Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux, composed predominantly of Merlot (95%) and aged in strong new oak, delivering intense dark fruit flavors of blackberry and blueberry alongside notes of licorice and roasted wood. While its high extract and concentration provide impressive structure and aging potential, the wine is marked by firm, grippy tannins that give it a tough, hard finish, though some tasters have noted that the acidity and pencil-lead characteristics take over with age.
