Description

Tasting Note: Deep garnet-purple colored, the 2017 La Vieille Cure comes bounding out of the glass with bold baked plums, Black forest cake and licorice scents followed by hints of garrigue, roses and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the palate packs in the black fruit layers with a firm, grainy frame and spicy kick to the finish.

The Winery

Chateau La Vieille Cure's modern era began in 1986 when Americans Colin Ferenbach and Peter Sachs acquired and renovated the estate. They enlisted Michel Rolland to enhance the vineyards and winemaking, elevating it to one of Fronsac's top producers by 2000. Known for offering great Bordeaux value, the 2005 vintage is particularly acclaimed. In 2013, Jean Luc Thunevin became the winemaker, with Jean-Philippe Fort as consultant, promising even greater quality.
