It has a surprising bouquet: high-toned and exotic for the vintage, very intense cassis and iodine aromas, perhaps needing just a little more complexity to come through,.The palate is more controlled at the moment, restores order as it were. The tannins are quite dense, lending weight to this Lalande-Borie, the acidity is nicely judged and the finesse finally comes through towards the finish. - WA
The history of Chateau Lalande Borie is related to the purchase of Chateau Lagrange, 3rd Growth in 1855, by the current owners in 1964: the Borie Family, who also is the owner of Chateau Ducru Beaucaillou, the Super Second of St Julien. Thus was born the Chateau Lalande Borie is located in the municipality of Saint-Julien-Beychevelle, along the road of great wines along the estuary of the Gironde. The vineyard, thirty hectares in one piece, located on a gravelly plateau planted with noble grapes having been the subject of a meticulous choice, produces an elegant wine and a great finesse. The most precious care taken, both in the vineyard and in the vinification or bottling, the judicious balance between the modern techniques and the respect of the traditions contributed to the notoriety of the believed.
