Producing arguably the archetypal Left Bank red wine, Saint-Julien might not boast a first growth but this small appellation is highly-regarded for the consistant quality of its red wines.
Red Bordeaux Blends are known for their powerful structure and deep flavors. Dark fruits and berries such as plum and blackcurrant are commonly used to describe the flavors of red Bordeaux, although there is an unlimited range of terms that have been ascribed to them. Tannins tend to be relatively high in these wines, giving them a firm structure.
Tasting note: "The nose is elegant, aromatic and offers a beautiful definition, a fine complexity and harmony. It reveals notes of ripe wild blackberry, wild cassis and small notes of wild raspberry associated with small touches of small berries, lily, violet as well as a hint of tea and spices. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a juicy frame, tension, tension as well as dynamism. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy raspberry, cassis and small notes of violet associated with touches of blackberry, small wild red fruits as well as a fine hint of plum, black tea, Badiane and sweet spices. Good length and persistence." - 91 - 92/100, VertdeVin
