Producing arguably the archetypal Left Bank red wine, Saint-Julien might not boast a first growth but this small appellation is highly-regarded for the consistant quality of its red wines.
Red Bordeaux Blends are known for their powerful structure and deep flavors. Dark fruits and berries such as plum and blackcurrant are commonly used to describe the flavors of red Bordeaux, although there is an unlimited range of terms that have been ascribed to them. Tannins tend to be relatively high in these wines, giving them a firm structure.
Tasting note: "The nose is concentrated. It reveals notes of ripe black fruits, ripe cassis, strawberry and very ripe plum associated with notes of spices, flowers as well as grilled touches and mocha. The palate is fruity, mineral and offers a nice tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy black currant, blackberry and fresh fruit associated with a few notes of red fruit (in background), touches of plum and small notes of spices. Tannins are fine and supple. Good length." - 90/100, VertdeVin
