With 5-10% botrytis affected berries added, this elegant dry white wine is subtle and supple, offering a frame of bright, citrusy acidity swathed in creamy layers of ripe melon, fresh tarragon and pastry cream flavors, with a rich note of petrol-tinged minerality that lingers on the spiced finish.
Established in 1961, Barberani is a family owned winery based in the Orvieto Classico region in Umbria of Italy. The Orvieto Classico region is one of the high quality dry white wine production areas in Italy, using the Grechetto and Trebbiano varieties. It is also one of the very few Italian wine regions where the conditions are right for noble rots to develop, hence production of botrytis sweet wine is possible. All fruits used for winemaking are from the estate’s own vineyards. Chemical treatments in the vineyards and winery are avoided. The use of sulphur and copper is minimal. Barberani is one of the natural, or nearly natural, wine producers in Italy. The wines are organic and vegan certified.
