The wine has a very deep dark raspberry color. It reveals hints of plum brandy and ripe berries (raspberries, black currants), notes of licorice and toasted oak. Taste of the wine is ripe, with a polished texture, beautiful, concentrated notes of black currant, blackberry, sweet raspberry and blueberry, complemented by shades of gravel, abundant but well-integrated tones of toast and sweet tannins. The finish is full, long-lasting.
When owned by the Laveau family in the 18th century, the estate cultivated over 100 hectares of various crops. Grand Mayne currently has just 17 hectares of vines, which have become the heart and soul of the estate. Growing in every direction around the Chateau, which seems to sit on a bed of green, over 100,000 vines cover the gentle slope with southwest sun exposure that catches the last of the setting sun rays. Grand Mayne is an authentic, but also a romantic place, where wine is made with an obsession for perfection and adapted to the complex terroir. The Nony family has presided over Grand Mayne's destinies since 1934. Jean-Antoine represents the third generation after Jean, then Jean-Pierre and his wife Marie-Francoise ??to perpetuate family management, resolutely turned towards excellence.
