Six miles from the ocean on a mid elevation windswept east facing ridge at 1,300 -1400 feet, the Valenti Ranch produces a distinctive coastal Chardonnay. This mineral driven beauty is showing citrus, gooseberry, kumquat and zippy tropical fruit notes along with a lovely flinty and oyster shell character. Shows the leanness of a Chablis with unmistakable coastal California character. The 2017 has a little more fullness on the palate than the 2016 and really hits on all notes with impeccable balance and consistency on the palate. This Chardonnay is very much coming into its own with this vintage. It is everything we had hoped for from this coastal site. You won't want to miss this vintage. Pair with Oysters on the Half Shell or Grilled Salmon.
Jason and Molly Drew started Drew eighteen years ago with a clear goal in mind: to craft small lot coastal wines that express site specificity and traditional varietal character. While the beginnings of Drew began in the Santa Rita Hills AVA in 2000, they transplanted their small operation to the Mendocino Coast in 2005 to establish their estate ranch and winery. Drew continues to focus on small lot coastal Pinot Noir and Syrah from both Anderson Valley and the Mendocino Ridge. They continue their long standing partnerships with several local vineyard growers who share their passion for sustainable and meticulous farming practices.
