Tasting Note: Cesari 2017 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico comes in a frosted bottle with a cream-colored label. It offers a compact and bright quality, although tones of scorched earth and black olive do emerge with time to remind you of the hot 2017 growing season. This is a full-bodied wine, and the fruit remains quite lively despite the 15% alcohol content and the appassimento process.

The Winery

Cesari, founded in 1936 by Gerardo Cesari, is renowned for producing world-class Amarone. Expanded by his son Franco in the 1960s, Cesari became one of the first Italian wines exported globally. Their estate includes over 100 hectares in Valpolicella, with a focus on indigenous varietals. Committed to quality and sustainability, Cesari's wines are aged extensively, offering authenticity and superior regional character.

Amarone della Valpolicella Classico wines are rich, red amarone wines from the traditional Classico viticultural zone of Valpolicella in Veneto, north-eastern Italy. As is the case outside the Classico boundaries, the principal grape variety is Corvina, backed up mainly by Corvinone, Rondinella and Oseleta.
