Ripe, juicy and forthright, with plum, blackberry and bramble notes that knit steadily tighter as they race through the finish, picking up dried anise, sage and warm earth accents. -WS

The Winery

The estate itself was established in 1882 by George Schonewald, who planted grapes and built the Victorian farmhouse which is there today. It came under its current ownership in 1972 when the Novak family bought the estate, and their first Cabernet Sauvignon wine was released in 1982. When the history of Napa great vineyards is written, the 40-acre Spottswoode Vineyard will be counted among the finest grand cru vineyards of the region.
