Aged 17 months in 45% new French oak, the pale to medium ruby colored 2017 Pinot Noir Russian River Valley opens with broody aromas of spiced cranberry sauce, crushed black cherries, loam, cumin seeds, dried leaves...
Fruit-driven, with an engaging core of plum, blackberry and black cherry preserve flavors, backed by cocoa and tobacco on the finish. A bit obvious in style, but will have fans. Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel and Petit Verdot. -WS
Paraduxx was created to allow the Duckhorn Vineyards' winemakers the freedom to explore other styles without detracting from the winery's focus on Bordeaux varietals. In 1994, Paraduxx sourced 4 tons of Zinfandel from the 100-year-old vines of Napa's Korte Vineyard and blended it with Duckhorn Vineyards' own estate Cabernet Sauvignon, along with smaller amounts of Merlot and Petite Sirah, creating the first Paraduxx vintage.
