The 2018 Phoenix is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc and was aged for 20 months in French oak barrels, 80% new. Medium to deep garnet-purple colored, the nose is redolent of warm plums, black cherries and black raspberries with suggestions of garrigue, menthol, pencil lead and roses. Medium-bodied, velvety and with great freshness, the palate delivers vibrant, crunchy fruit and a good long, mineral-tinged finish. - Wine Advocate
Hudson Vineyards is a 2000 acre ranch contained entirely within the Napa side of Carneros in the southern part of the Napa Valley. The founder, Robert Hudson who referred as Lee, worked in Burgundy France for 1.5 years then earned his Master’s Degree in Viticulture and Enology at UC Davis. In 2008 he was awarded “Grower of the Year” by the Napa Valley Grape growers. Today he and his wife Christina and son Ed help oversee the ranch operations. Lee purchased the ranch in 1981 and first harvest was in 1983. Over the years, the Hudson Ranch has become one of the most famous sites in all of Carneros.
