Rioja Alta is one of three sub-regions of Spain's celebrated Rioja wine region. It occupies the westernmost portion of the region, with the majority of its vineyards lying south of the Ebro River.
Generally speaking, Tempranillo produces red wines with red fruit and leather aromas, high tannins, moderate to low acidity, and moderate alcohol. In 2020, Tempranillo was the third most-planted grape variety in the world, with the majority of plantings in the Iberian peninsula.
Tasting note: "This deep-garnet-colored wine offers a bouquet of black cherry, cocoa powder and violet. Flavors of black and red berries, clove, mocha, butterscotch, rose petal and a touch of orange zest are wrapped in velvety tannins that linger on the palate." - 92/100, Wine Enthusiast
