The 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Vigna la Casa is a plump and enriched red wine with juicy fruit flavors of blackberry, dried cherry, spice, leather and moist earth. The wine is very likable, yet it offers a more approachable style and less nuanced complexity as a result. -WA
This is rich, sporting cherry, graphite, leather and spice flavors allied to a taut, linear frame. Firm tannins dominate the earthy finish. -WS
Tenuta Caparzo is an estate in the Montalcino region of Tuscany particularly known for its Brunello di Montalcino red wines led by the Vigna La Casa cuv矇e. Introduced in 1977, it is one of the earliest single-vineyard wines in the region, and also one of the first to use barriques ??the wine sees a year in smaller barrels then two years in French and Slavonian 3000-liter casks. The vineyard was once the tenant farm for the workers at the nearby Palazzo Montosoli.
Caparzo was founded in the late 1960s when a group of friends bought a ruined farm with vineyards and set about a program of complete replanting and revovation. In 1998, it was bought by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, who also owns the neighboring Altesino, Borgo Scopeto in Chianti Classico, and a vineyard in the Maremma which produces the Morellino di Scansano La Doga delle Clavule.
