Muscat (de) Beaumes-de-Venise wines are sweet, fortified Muscat based wines from the village of Beaumes-de-Venise, in France's Rhône Valley. They are made entirely from Muscat Blanc à Petit Grains and its Muscat Noir color mutation.
Muscat Blanc à Petits Grains (Moscato Bianco in Italy) is the oldest member of the Muscat family, which places it in good standing as one of the oldest grape varieties in the world. The variety is named for its small berries and seeds (petits grains), as is its red-skinned mutation Muscat à Petit Grains Rouges.
Producer tasting notes: "A pale golden colour, it is satisfyingly full-bodied yet lively on the palate, intense floral aromas of Muscat mingling with fragrant notes of litchi, mango, pear and almonds. The lingering finish is well-balanced and pleasantly fresh." - Pierre Amadieu
