What a lovely 1988 this is, not dissimilar to the 1986. An unmistakable Pauillac nose of blackberry, cigar box and pine. Still fresh and vigorous. The palate has fine concentration, well balanced with well-knit, fairly austere black fruits. A very traditionally made wine - a perfect match for a nice piece of lamb. Fresh acidity makes this an easy wine to drink. Probably at its peak but I wouldn't be surprised if this drinks well for another 5-6 years. Wine Advocate 88-89
