The Winery

Description

An earthy and distinctly gamy nose of forest floor, red pinot and cassis aromas is trimmed in just enough wood to notice. The delicious, vibrant and sleekly textured medium-bodied flavors possess slightly better mid-palate density, all wrapped in a focused, powerful and mildly rustic finale. Good quality here in a wine that should reward mid-term cellaring. - AM

The Winery

The domaine has been owned by the de Nicolay family since 1834. Countess Chandon de Briailles, (a relation to the Mont & Chandon family) took over the reins in 1982 and dedicated herself to reviving the status of the domain and its wines. Today, Domaine Chandon de Briailles produces an average of 50,000 bottles of wine per year, and has practiced biodynamic principles since 2005.
