A generous dollop of wood overshadows the citrus, floral, mineral reduction, pear and iodine-suffused aromas today. The wood can also be found on the palate as well though the good news is that there is sufficient mid-palate density to the medium weight flavors appears to be up to the challenge of absorbing it. The mouth feel is caressing but powerful while the finish is both much better balanced and persistent. - AM
Domaines Albert Bichot is a leading family-owned and -run negociant house and estate owner in Burgundy, formed in 1831 and now based in the town of Beaune. The company owns four estates in distinct regions within Burgundy, each with its own vineyard holdings, winery and cellars. Domaine du Pavillon in Pommard includes the Corton Grand Cru Monopole Clos des Marechaudes, while the flagship wine of Domaine du Clos-Frantin based in Nuits-Saints-Georges is a Vosne Romanee Premier Cru Les Malconsorts, and Chateau Long-Depaquit in Chablis controls the Grand Cru Monopole La Moutone. Domaine Adelie in Mercurey completes the quartet; in total the company owns around 100 hectares (247 acres) of vineyards across the wider region.
