The charming, elegant 2009 Corbin-Michotte does not possess the power, weight, thickness, or unctuosity of most of its peers. It is made in an up-front, forward, richly fruity style that emphasizes black cherry and black currant fruit. - WA
Chateau Corbin Michotte is one of the five different St. Emilion estates with the name Corbin. These estates are all located near the Pomerol border on similar, mostly, sandy terroirs. What separates Chateau Corbin Michotte from the other Corbin estates is that its Bordeaux wine vineyards are in one, large, single parcel, which is not common in that area.
The Boidron family has been involved in producing wine since 1760. The estates are all located near the Pomerol border. The vineyards, around 35 years of age are planted with 65% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Franc and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon. The terroir is gravel, iron, sandy clay soils. The vines are close to 35 years of age. The vinification takes place in cement tanks, aged in 60% new French oak up to 15 months before bottling.
