A rich, Merlot-dominated wine, this is opulent and packed with blackberry fruits. It has a great structure of tannins and ripe fruitiness. Bitter chocolate and coffee flavors give an extra complexity. The wine is still young, still full of juicy fruit.
Chateau Lafleur du Roy was created in 1958 by Yvon and Paquerette Dubost, who came to viticulture through their vineyard nurseries. This family property of 4 hectares, located at 60 m altitude, exposed to the southwest, and enjoying a very good sunshine, has vines aged 40 to 45 years. The vineyard has a gravely sand soil with an abundant underlay of alios, more commonly known in the region as "iron filth". The vineyard is not weeded chemically but worked regularly. Finally, in order to preserve the quality of our wines, the grape harvest is entirely done by hand, with total destemming.
