The vineyards of this Grand Cru are planted in the commune of Gevrey-Chambertin. Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has aromas of raspberry, currant and violet. A few years in the cellar will allow these initial aromas to acquire more animalic and spicy notes, while retaining remarkable freshness. The palate is a skillful blend of power, elegance and voluptuousness.
Albert Bichot owns a total of six unique domains with the finest Bourgogne terroirs in Chablis, Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune, Côte Chalonnaise and Beaujolais. Together, these make up over 100 hectares of vines. Albéric Bichot has run the wine company since 1996, and is the 6th generation of the family to run the business, which was established in 1831. Over the years, he has acquired some of the most sought-after vineyards in Burgundy. Each domain has a vineyard and cellar where a dedicated team vinifies and ages the precious wines. Here, you interfere as little as possible during the vinification process, where the most important thing is that the wines must be imbued with the terroir and the characteristics of the village they come from.
The wine is carefully transferred from the vinification tanks or barrels to the cellars by gravity. There it is allowed to mature in casks for 12 to 18 months. Depending on the vintage, a combination of oak casks of different origins (Tronçais, Allier, etc.) and of varying degrees of toast are used to achieve discreet but complex nuances of oak that are always elegantly well integrated.
