Winemaker Tasting Notes
-Color: Intense ruby red.
-Nose: Very fruity and intense. Prevailing red and black fruit aromas of raspberries, plums and blackberries are backed by floral notes of violets. The ageing in French oak contributes touches of vanilla and caramel, granting superb intensity.
-Palate: It is a gentle, fruity and easy-to-drink wine. Fruit and floral undertones and pleasant acidity contribute intensity, freshness and zest. Ripe, soft tannins confer body and balance to this wine.
Mendel Winery embodies the union of Roberto de la Mota -one of Argentina’s most respected and experienced winemakers with an established Argentine family. Together they are dedicated to producing wines of superior quality expressing the quality and character of our very old Malbec and Cabernet vineyards in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, Argentina. They choose the best lots from almost 80-year-old vineyards, paying rigorous attention to every detail from carefully sorting bunches to fermentation in small tanks to aging in the finest French oak.
It is an ancient vineyard where vines are almost 80-year-old. Winemaker Roberto de la Mota was the head winemaker of Cheval des Andes and Terrazas de los Andes (LVMH/Chandon Argentina). In May 2006 he partners with Anabelle to craft exquisite, special wines from these extraordinary vineyards. The remarkable wines from Mendel win recommendation from Decanter, who highly recommend Mendel as “an icon for tomorrow”.
