Rioja Alta is one of three sub-regions of Spain's celebrated Rioja wine region. It occupies the westernmost portion of the region, with the majority of its vineyards lying south of the Ebro River.
Rare White Blend is a term to group together white wine made from uncommon or unusual grape variety blends. The category also gives us a convenient home for wine that has unknown contents or varieties that are not published by the winery. It is occasionally used for varietal wine of obscure or extremely rare varieties.
There is no particular pattern or formula for establishing which grape varieties will features in these rare blends, nor the proportions in which they will be used. Some will consist of just two components, others may contain ten or more.
Tasting note: "Style, pleasant, smooth, tasty, jammy. Estilo, agradable, suave, sabroso, maduro. Stil, angenehm, mild, geschmackvoll, reif."
